I'm a Lesbian

My husband and I are best friends. We've been married for almost twenty years, all the while knowing that I like women and he likes men. We were both entering our thirties when we made the decision to get married. It was a good decision for many reasons.

We always had a "spouse" to bring to parties and company functions. This was very important, as we're both very career-minded professionals whose jobs could be sourly affected if it should become common knowledge that we are homosexual.

Our families feel better knowing that we won't "get old alone". I can understand that perspective too, because I like having someone to come home to.

Every now and then, one of us will have a date, but we're not big in the social scene, so we don't have to worry too much about one of us bringing people home. And when we do, we just shut our bedroom door and give the one privacy. We have a two-bedroom apartment for just that reason. I love my husband, and he loves me. In twenty years, we've never had sex; we never will. We're best friends.
