Talk To Me

For too long, gay and lesbian Americans have remained hidden and scattered behind the Wall of Shame - "the closet". I was one of these, until it struck me. There are a lot of us, and we're important too! It may seem obvious, but when you've grown up doubting and questioning your every move because you're the "minority", it makes perfect sense. But through my work on the net, I've discovered a world of people with wants just like mine, and if businesses would notice us, they could benefit from us as much as we could benefit from them!

Gay and lesbian Americans are finally celebrating their rebirth, and are "coming out" on the World Wide Web. GFN - the Gay Financial Network, hopes to lead all gay and lesbian Americans to their financial independence and rightful place within the US financial services marketplace.

The gay and lesbian market in the U.S. has come of age. The opening to the public of the World Wide Web in the mid-1990s and the tremendous embrace of this commercially viable medium by the American gay and lesbian community has been nothing short of staggering. The emerging awareness of this fact is rapidly changing the way corporate America views the size and liquidity of the gay and lesbian market. Understanding the distinct financial needs of gay and lesbian consumers is essential for corporations that wish to remain competitive and expand their future market position.

With estimates ranging from 3 percent to 10 percent of the U.S. population, most conservative assumptions put the size of the gay and lesbian market at about 5 percent of the population. That puts the sheer numbers of the market today at about 13.5 million people.

Various research figures present a very reachable audience. Approximately 62 percent of gay and lesbian computer owners are on line. By comparison, only 38 percent of U.S. computer owners are online. In short, there are an estimated five million gay and lesbian online users. More than one million are online for 20 or more hours a day.

Through my work on the Internet has allowed me to reach millions of other homosexuals with similar wants and needs:now if only businesses would make this same discovery!
